Naturally Onion-Skin Dyed Long Jacket

From something ordinary, an unexpected colour.

This long flowing jacket is naturally dyed using one of the humblest materials in Ward’s palette: onion skins.

Repurposed through the dyeing process, the skins reveal warm golden and earthy tones that move organically across the fabric, creating irregular washes of cream, ochre, soft brown and gold.

The simplicity of the relaxed silhouette allows those natural variations to take centre stage—reflecting Ward’s philosophy of letting colour and material tell the story rather than overwhelming them with unnecessary detail.

For Safaa, onion skins were also part of the discovery that inspired the collection: an everyday material unexpectedly producing rich golden colour and becoming proof of how much creative possibility can exist in what surrounds us.

Because the dyeing process is organic, the resulting pattern cannot be reproduced exactly. Every shift in colour becomes part of the piece’s identity.
